We had a fabulous time celebrating 8 years of getting to know our big girl. Because we all had school on the actual day the festivities started the day before when our teammate joined us for a 3D movie (rio2). It was our first 3D experience and everyone but Daniel enjoyed it (the experience not necessarily the film)
3D glasses
We then went out to McDonalds (a big treat here) and there was a playground even which was lots of fun. NgaMelut then got to pick out her gift from Grandma Mary and she chose a beautiful dress.
The dress and scarf she chose.
The next day (her real birthday) we made cake for her class – it was a big hit
it says Happy Birthday Providence 8 yrs- J– and I made it –
We enjoyed her favorite dinner (bbq chicken and zucchini)
Dinner time!…for cake time we realized we had no candles so Jon decided to use sparklers which we found from previous tenets
It was REALLY hot but the affect was awesomeTia (Auntie Anna) called just in time to watch her open up her birthday gifts
Sweet girl was so excited by her new art supplies from GrandmaHer gift from Jon and I was a build it yourself robot…they set to work immedietly assembling it.Tia is amazing she pretending to be enthralled with robot assembly over skypeWatching the little brush “move” around the floor was the result of the activity. It was a big hit.
A week later we had a few of her friends over for a fancy tea party.
Tea table all ready for guestsThe girls excitedly took pictures of the set-up while waiting for guests to arrive. We had a nail painting salon set up. Flower-girl wanted each nail a different color. The girls got to enjoy peach smoothies while we did nails. The tea party consisted of tea, small sandwiches, hummus and pita crackers, banana salad, cookies…you get the idea…
Favorite quote of the party was, “oh I know how to eat tea sandwiches!” and said girl immedietly sticks her pinky in the air to eat.D-man enjoyed hot chocolate…how is it possible to get this much of it on your face – pure skill i tell you!Opening gifts. One family was also recently evacuated from another country and got PJ some clothes since they knew she had left her behind. It was so sweet.Cupcake time! Nutella caramel cupcakes……mmmCraft time! The idea was to make fancy fans but it was deemed more appropriate to make no boys allowed signs for the craft area first….…more craft time fun.
When we were preparing to leave our passport country I remember our girls being most concerned about who to share their birthdays with. We praise God that in each country we have celebrated birthdays in (four now!) he has provided special people to enjoy the day with. Such grace!
Again, a delightful sharing of your time with words and pictures! Thank you!!
Love seeing so much joy and imagining all the fun chatter. It looked to be a very deeelightful tea party for all
How fun to see PJ enjoying her birthday through pictures!
