A “belated” birthday celebration

A week after hospital discharge we were able to celebrate PJ’s 7th birthday party. We were so glad we delayed so Flower-girl could celebrate with us. This was a special celebration because all our MK’s were in Nairobi at the same time for our team conference so we were able to all celebrate together. J– spent alot of time creating a great pirate party treasure hunt and I cannot remember the last time we have had so much fun. All the kids got really into the hunt and we spent alot of time just enjoying each other. So much of missions life is just living alongside folks and we loved this special moment of celebration with our fellow workers and friends. Happy Birthday PJ!

This was PJ’s actual birthday three weeks earlier. Flower-girl was quite sick (and was admitted an hour after this photo was taken) but our dear friends Hiake, Rante and Canberra had us over for a birthday celebration dinner. PJ loves her Aunties and uncle and this made her feel soo special!
The girls loved decorating for the party
Pirate bananas
Pirate Crackers
We decorated all the balloons to look like pirates
Of course we had a treasure box cake. Inside was “loot” of Carmel candy to look like gold.
We were truly celebrating PJ’s birthday and Flower-girl’s hospital discharge.

Our fearless captain who led the days pirate activities
Captain J– explains that the kids must find “bombs” hidden nearby to fight off an enemy pirate ship
Isaac throws his bomb at the enemy chalk pirate ship

The first clue was well hidden and took a long time to discover

PJ finds another clue.
Captain J– and the kids arrive at the X only to discover a secret map that they had to cook to reveal the true treasures location. Here they are deciding how to bring out the invisible ink.
Looking over the treasure chest they found. Our pirate decided to share all her found treasure with her friends.
What wonderful people we serve alongside. Represented here are five different countries.
