We thought it would be fun to share with you some of the most frequent questions or our favorite questions asked at our open houses here on our website for those of you who live too far away to attend an open house in person.
جنوب السودان
Do you need to learn a new language?
While the official language in South Sudan is English, very few people speak it. (remember that S. Sudan has only been a country since July of 2010 and the official language previous to their independence was Arabic).
We will be going to language school for 6-12 months to learn Sudanese Arabic in order to better communicate with those around us. Our children will be attending an Arabic preschool to aid in their language learning as well. Each tribe also has it’s own native language. We hope to be learning that as well, though the process is more informal as there is no school. Since we are planning on working with the Mabaan we will be learning Mabaan when we live in Doro.
