What a huge privilege to celebrate South Sudan’birthday alongside our Sudanese friends in Melut. The singing, the dancing, the speeches, the colors, it was amazing. We tried to give you a glimpse in the photos below but perhaps next year you’ll choose to fly out and join us. After just an hour of celebrating Daniel (our 1.5yr old) developed a high fever and we had to come back but the festivities (we are thinking malaria) we enjoyed the rest of the day from our porch while he slept. They have lasted six hours…and counting! Our friend Marsa’s husband flew in to sing for the occasion and we were able to see people we recognized in the large crowd. The kids were done pretty early on as four kuwaja (white) kids is quite a sight here. We had our photo snapped so many times we could barely see what was happening.
Abuk and J–, we are praying for your family and that Daniel will get well quickly. Praying that the medications will work in a short period of time and that no one else will get sick; the end of Malaria for your precious family. Love you.
