Chicken dinner

This is a part of a series on daily life for us in South Sudan. Read more here…

We enjoyed chicken for the first time tonight here in South Sudan. It was delicious enough to be picture worthy. William exclaimed, “BEST DINNER EVER MOM!” in a loud voice about 12 times throughout the meal (sweet boy!)

I had never gutted a female chicken before. So many little eggs inside (fascinating!)

Why the chicken but no eggs? As a lover of eggs I was saddened to read you saying something about not being able to buy them over there. Yet, I clearly see you have access to chickens…what’s the deal:)?

It is just not culturally done here. Sometimes they will feed them to children but never adults so you never see them.
