A Lamb goes uncomplaining forth,<br \/>\nThe guilt of all men bearing;<br \/>\nAnd laden with the sins of earth,<br \/>\nNone else the burden sharing!<br \/>\nGoes patient on, grows weak and faint,<br \/>\nTo slaughter led without complaint,<br \/>\nThat spotless life to offer;<br \/>\nBears shame and stripes,<br \/>\nand wounds and death,<br \/>\nAnguish and mockery and saith,<br \/>\n\u201cWilling all this I suffer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>2. This Lamb is Christ, the soul\u2019s great friend,<br \/>\nThe Lamb of God, our Savior;<br \/>\nHim God the Father chose to send<br \/>\nTo gain for us His favor.<br \/>\n\u201cGo forth, My Son,\u201d the Father saith,<br \/>\n\u201cAnd free men from the fear of death,<br \/>\nFrom guilt and condemnation.<br \/>\nThe wrath and stripes are hard to bear,<br \/>\nBut by Thy passion men shall share<br \/>\nThe fruit of Thy salvation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>3. \u201cYea, Father, yea most willingly<br \/>\nI\u2019ll bear what Thou commandest;<br \/>\nMy will conforms to Thy decree,<br \/>\nI do what Thou demandest.\u201d<br \/>\nO wondrous Love, what hast Thou done!<br \/>\nThe Father offers up His Son!<br \/>\nThe Son, content, descendeth!<br \/>\nO Love, how strong Thou art to save!<br \/>\nThou beddest Him within the grave<br \/>\nWhose word the mountains rendeth.<\/p>\n<p>4. Thou lay\u2019st Him, Love upon the cross,<br \/>\nWith nails and spear Him bruising;<br \/>\nThou slay\u2019st Him as a lamb, His loss<br \/>\nFrom soul and body oozing;<br \/>\nFrom body \u2019tis the crimson flood<br \/>\nOf precious sacrificial blood,<br \/>\nFrom soul, the strength of anguish.<br \/>\nMy gain it is; sweet Lamb, to Thee<br \/>\nWhat can I give whose love to me<br \/>\nFor me doth make Thee languish?<\/p>\n<p>5. Lord, all my life I\u2019ll cleave to Thee,<br \/>\nThy love fore\u2019er beholding,<br \/>\nThee ever, as Thou ever me,<br \/>\nWith loving arms enfolding.<br \/>\nYea, Thou shalt be my Beacon-light,<br \/>\nTo guide me safe through death\u2019s dark night,<br \/>\nAnd cheer my heart in sorrow;<br \/>\nHenceforth myself and all that\u2019s mine<br \/>\nTo Thee, my Savior, I consign,<br \/>\nFrom whom all things I borrow.<\/p>\n<p>6. From morn till eve my theme shall be<br \/>\nThy mercy\u2019s wondrous measure;<br \/>\nTo sacrifice myself for Thee<br \/>\nShall be my aim and pleasure.<br \/>\nMy stream of life shall ever be<br \/>\nA current flowing ceaselessly,<br \/>\nThy constant praise outpouring.<br \/>\nI\u2019ll treasure in my memory,<br \/>\nO Lord, all Thou hast done for me,<br \/>\nThy gracious love adoring.<\/p>\n<p>7. Enlarge my heart\u2019s own shrine, and swell,<br \/>\nTo thee shall now be given<br \/>\na treasure that doth far excel<br \/>\nThe worth of earth and heaven.<br \/>\nAway with the Arabian gold,<br \/>\nWith treasures of an earthly mold!<br \/>\nI\u2019ve found a better jewel.<br \/>\nMy priceless treasure, Lord, my God,<br \/>\nIs Thy most holy, precious blood,<br \/>\nWhich flowed from wounds so cruel.<\/p>\n<p>8. This treasure ever I\u2019ll employ,<br \/>\nThis every aid shall yield me;<br \/>\nIn sorrow it shall be my joy,<br \/>\nIn conflict it shall shield me;<br \/>\nIn joy, the music of my feast,<br \/>\nAnd when all else has lost its zest,<br \/>\nThis manna still shall feed me;<br \/>\nIn thirst my drink; in want my food;<br \/>\nMy company in solitude,<br \/>\nTo comfort and to lead me.<\/p>\n<p>9. Of death I am no more afraid,<br \/>\nNew life from Thee is flowing;<br \/>\nThy cross affords me cooling shade<br \/>\nWhen noonday\u2019s sun is glowing.<br \/>\nWhen by my grief I am opprest,<br \/>\nOn Thee my weary soul shall rest<br \/>\nSerenely as on pillows.<br \/>\nThou art my Anchor when by woe<br \/>\nMy boat is driven to and fro<br \/>\nOn trouble\u2019s surging billows.<\/p>\n<p>10.
