{"id":1401,"date":"2013-05-05T15:44:30","date_gmt":"2013-05-05T15:44:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gospelwater.net\/?p=1401"},"modified":"2014-02-25T09:10:53","modified_gmt":"2014-02-25T09:10:53","slug":"so-much-to-be-thankful-for","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gospelwater.net\/?p=1401","title":{"rendered":"So much to be thankful for"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 500px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" \" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/farm9.staticflickr.com\/8417\/8709862907_eb413423b7_b.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"334\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">One of Flower&#8217;girl&#8217;s favorite pastimes in South Sudan<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Here are a few of the many measures of Grace we&#8217;ve been given over the last few weeks<\/p>\n<p><strong>4 <\/strong>times Claire and Bethany came over to help handwash thrown up on laundry<\/p>\n<p><strong>2 <\/strong>or possibly more meals that Bethany cooked for the well folks so I could stay home and help the girls get better<\/p>\n<p><strong>7 <\/strong>times that Daniel threw up which prompted us to decided to get medical help. He was fine but the girls needed it. We praise God he helped us make the right decision through Daniel<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 <\/strong>plane that was able to be rerouted through our logistics department to pick us up six hours after we requested.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 <\/strong>pilot that was amazing and even set up a sick station in the back for us.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 <\/strong>single cab pick-up Eli was able to rent last minute to get us to the airstrip<\/p>\n<p><strong>2 <\/strong>days to get into Nairobi where no one got too sick to travel<\/p>\n<p><strong>2 <\/strong>care packages and cartons of ice cream in our freezer welcoming us into Nairobi<\/p>\n<p><strong>2 <\/strong>girls that were able to be admitted in the same room for re hydration and to help them recover.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4 <\/strong>meals prepared by amazing teammates while Flower-girl and PJ were in the hospital (with mom) for four days.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 <\/strong>bunch of flowers welcoming us home.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2 <\/strong>days earlier that all our teammates had to leave Doro because our family &#8220;messed up the flights&#8221;. This meant they avoided tribal gunfire that happened on the ground the day they were suppose to leave.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3 <\/strong>days of recovery in the guesthouse<\/p>\n<p><strong>3 <\/strong>doctors monitoring Flower-girl by phone and triaging as she began to get worse<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 <\/strong>birthday celebration with PJ before we took Flower-girl to the hospital<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 <\/strong>teammate who took a 45 minute taxi ride to sit with me when Flower-girl was admitted a second time<\/p>\n<p><strong>thousands <\/strong>of people praying at the exact moment we needed grace.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7 <\/strong>meals brought over for J&#8211; and the other three during our second hospital stay<\/p>\n<p><strong>3 <\/strong>cards brought to the hospital by visitors<\/p>\n<p><strong>4 <\/strong>days of company where friends made the long taxi ride up to sit with me.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 <\/strong>amazing husband who reduced our kids stress level by staying at home and playing lots of fun games with them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 <\/strong>positive blood slide for Malaria that could be treated immediately.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 <\/strong>infectious disease doctor who knew of an antibiotic that was relatively new to Africa and helped Flower-girl turn the corner.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 <\/strong>of Abook&#8217;s best friends who was the perfect time distance to cry on the phone with her in the &#8220;middle&#8221; of an african night.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2 <\/strong>countries where we could medically evacuate where fellow SIM missionaries were ready to greet us and help us<\/p>\n<p><strong>17 <\/strong>nights of four hours or less of uninterrupted sleep and the energy to keep going given from God.<\/p>\n<p><strong>countless <\/strong>moments of grace when things got hard and we missed the cultural comforts of home.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1 <\/strong>passport for Flower-girl that meant that she has access to the medical care she needed to live.
