MIA in this photo is Karen who is inside when this was taken.

I realized I haven’t said very much about the amazing team from SIM we joined here in Melut, and more specifically GTC. We have the privileged of joining Claire who serves a s a nurse here on GTC and does some health education classes (she has been here in Melut the longest). They call Claire the “pied piper” she is amazing with kids and always has a group of happy children around her it seems (our children are no exception).

We also join the Fader family. Eli and Bethany are serving their second term with SIM and have been here in Melut almost a year. The woman here call Bethany Nyadeng (I think it is an Uduk name for her but it could be Dinka) joy follows her everywhere she goes and folks here know they are loved by Nyadeng through her words, smile and desire to participate actively in life. Eli is a man who seeks after God, is passionate about theology and one of the hardest workers I have ever seen (and I am married to J–!) They have three boys, Isaac, Evan and Josh that are close in age to our kids (a bit older). Eli teaches theology at GTC and Bethany teaches a college class on how to teach English.

Dave, Karen and Rachel Heska arrived in Nairobi in January and are serving here for one year. Rachel is just a few months older then Daniel and loves following him around and saying “baby?”. Dave is an engineer and helping the college with various building projects. We share a concrete “pad” with them and love having them as our close neighbors. David has the gift of a good memory for names and Karen is amazing at her ability to retain Arabic. They have so openly give up all that is familiar to serve with all they have and it is quite inspiring to hear their story and learn from the way they live life as a family.

As you are able please pray for this group of dear people that God will encourage and bless each of them as they serve and that we can be a blessing to them as we live in such close proximity.

Our amazing team at an impromptu team dinner We are all enjoying tacos on the Heska and our “front porch”.
