I am doing a project 52 challenge this year (2015) where I am taking one photo a week based on a theme to improve and challenge my photography skills. I am participating with my dear high school friend and talented photographer Sara over at The Blessed Everyday<\/a>. May these be an encouragement to you as well as me as we reflect on the blessings of God in the day to day of life.<\/p>\n

I am also taking a photo a day of things I am thankful for which you can find here<\/a><\/p>\n

\"13.52-Joy.<\/a>
13.52-Joy. This was a fun one this week. Time with family is what brings me the most joy and these past two weeks have been filled with just that. I am trying not to think of the long goodbyes that will follow and just relish the laughter of bonfires outside, and laughter…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Week 12\/52-Hands or feet<\/strong><\/p>\n

12.52-hands or feet- This was a special one this week as some dear ladies and I got together to share about life and parenting over henna…these woman have been a part of my life since college and mean so much to me…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Week 11\/52-The family meal<\/strong><\/p>\n

11\/52-The family meal. This one was hard (we are still on the road and rarely cooking) but we have been making Sudanese coffee for folks…all our kids participate and it is a fun family activity … but I couldn’t pick just one photo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

11\/52-The family meal. This is a typical meal for our family on Saturdays…Dad makes crepes! We are staying at some friends house and it was fun to make it for them!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Week 10\/52- Photograph the “heart of your home”. <\/strong><\/p>\n

10\/52-This was another hard week for me as we are on the road with no “home” in sight for four months…and then six months of a temporary home before another unknown home in East Africa…then I started to love the challenge. This is the heart of our home…it is us. The location, where we’ve been and where we are going (even where we are now) is not the heart the heart is us, journeying on the road of life together in obedience and joy.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Week 9\/52 – A pretty arrangement of non-people<\/strong><\/p>\n

9.52-A pretty arrangement of non-people. For this challenge I cheated…for several reasons. The biggest is we are living out of suitcases and just arrived from an international flight and I simply had no creativity to create something from our bags…We went to my friends home for dinner and I was struck wtih hos at home I felt- based on her arrangements of every day life. Her home was lived in…and filled with love. This sign welcoming friends arranged amidst practical tools for living life with five kdis inspired me…and how she arranges her life to love people is the most beautiful “arrangement” I saw this week…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Week 8\/52- Shoot from the top<\/strong><\/p>\n

8\/52- Williams best bud came in and after a year apart they loved playing together all day…Daniel of course had to join in the fun…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Week 7\/52-Photograph someone or something you love (Valentines day special)<\/strong><\/p>\n

7\/52- This was a fun one…I was near my camera when this silly game ensued so a simple point and capture a moment encompassed all my loves in one spontaneous image. Love them.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Week 6\/52-A new perspective (my challenge)<\/strong><\/p>\n

6\/52- I challenged myself this week to get an “everyday” shot or activity from a new angle and this was the result. My little man in his element making his car come to life. It took work to lie on the floor but overcoming laziness was worth it.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Week 6\/52 – The group challenge was our favorite over the past six weeks. It was fun to look back and choose!<\/p>\n

6\/52-Favorite so far. This was my favorite so far (taken on week 4) because I was able to do successfully two things I really struggle with. Using negative space well, and breaking the rule of thirds.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Week 5\/52-Lots of negative space<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"5\/52-The<\/a>
5\/52-The challenge was lots of negative space. I have some great shots from previous weeks that do this well but this week was tricky. I was shooting at an event where there were so many people that shooting negative space was “almost impossible”. Love this picture of my three year old playing peekaboo through the metal poles!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Week 4\/52 – Up Close and Personal<\/strong><\/p>\n

4\/52 – We spent this week at a spiritual life conference for our team. This dear lady is amazing to me. She loves with passion and lives out the gospel in such a real and loving way. She engages it personally…the intimacy of the moment is told in the story of her life more then the photo (I love you Liz)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Week 3\/52 – Breaking the Rule of Thirds<\/strong><\/p>\n

This is D-man at bath time. This was a hard skill for me my eye didn’t want to break the rule even to tell a story. I need to work on this skill!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Week 2\/52 – Follow the Rule of Thirds<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"2\/52\"<\/a>This was an amazing week to be doing Rule of Thirds. This beauty came up near our car in Murchison Falls Uganda, and even cooperated with my “rule of thirds” assignment. He was breathtaking.<\/p>\n

Week 1\/52- Take a photo using a wide angle lens
\n<\/strong><\/p>\n

1\/52 – This was a tricky shot for me as my widest angle was only 18mm. I was happy for the challenge to capture our home as we say goodbye to 9 months here. It is filled with many memories…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
